Chapter Twentyfive

It had been two days. Two days of nothing but pain for the blonde and the redhead, and neither knew what was going on, even though Giles had been researching it for the last fourty eight hours. Yet each night, the blonde had been determined that she go out and patrol, and Willow had gone with her, for the last couple of nights anyway. But now the redhead had to go home, and meet her parents for dinner. Buffy had promised to pick her up at midnight, saying she would knock on the french doors. So when midnight rolled around, and the blonde didn't show up, Willow began to worry.

Buffy had been out on patrol for not nearly an hour, it was ten, and she had to pick Willow up in two hours. She had been in pain, well, really a dull ache that felt like uber bad cramps, everysince the training with Giles, and it had yet to go away. But she knew that she had to patrol, she couldn't just leave vamps out there to kill innocents.

She looked around. This was the second cemetary she had passed through, only ten left. Well, really only five, the other five were so old people hardly ever bothered to go in there, or be buried there for that matter. She sighed as she gripped her stake, and set out. It would be a long night, and by the time she had two more cemetaries to go, it was nearly midnight, and she still hadn't seen a single vampire. But they had seen her, unbeknownst to her, she was being tailed. And not just by one vampire, but two. She looked around. Restfield Cemetary. She idly walked around the site, looking for fresh graves, when suddenly she felt someone grab her from behind, and then... everything went dark.

Willow paced in her room. It was twelve thirty. 'Maybe she just got caught up in a slay.' Willow thought hopefully. She looked at the clock. One whole minute had passed since she last looked at it. One whole minute. She sighed in frustration. This was going to be a very long night indeed.

Giles glanced warily around his condo. It was nearly one, and neither of the girls had checked in yet, although that was common for Buffy, it was a rather odd occurence for Willow not to have checked in. He took off his glasses, and rubbed his eyes, before dialing Buffy's pager number.

In a dark place, somewhere, presumably underground, the pager went off, sending high pitched shrills off echoing into the night as it lit up the lack of life around it.

Willow picked up her phone, and dialed a number she knew by heart. It only rang once before it was picked up.

"Giles?" She asked hopefully.

"Willow, I take it you're responding to my page?" He asked in a relieved tone.

"Uhm, no...I mean, I haven't seen Buffy tonight, I don't know where she is, she was supposed to be here nearly an hour ago, and well..." She sighed, knowing she didn't have to fill in the rest of the blanks for him.

"She hasn't been there yet?" He asked, suprised and slightly alarmed.

"Nope, not yet...I mean...." she paused, "I'm starting to worry Giles." Willow said softly. 'Pshaw, starting to worry?' Her brain asked, although she chose not to voice this.

"Don't worry...I'm sure she'll be fine. I'll go out and look for her, if I find her...well, I'll let you know, somehow." He said before hanging up the phone, and grabbing a cross, some holy water, and a crossbow, and leaving his condo.

He had gone through nearly all of the cemtaries. And none of them left any clue as to where his charge was. Restfield was his last stop, and looking around it, he saw a flashing light, coming from one of the moseliums.

Stepping closer, he realized that it was the pager, laying half way down a tunnel that seemed to lead to the sewers, and connect with the crypt.

He reached down, and grabbed the pager, right before someone grabbed him.

Buffy regained consciousness, and looked around. This was so not good. She closed her eyes against the pain in her head for a second, before she opened them again, and was suddenly hit with a sudden hunger rush.

Giles, not thirty feet away, was going through a similar process, only an hour later.

Willow looked at her clock. Six thirty, and still no word. She'd have to go to school, and ask Giles there. The only problem being, that although she didn't know it, Giles wouldn't be present at school today either.

A/N: Okay, I know it's short, but it's just what I had wanted to do with this chapter...let me know what you think. - L.
