Chapter Twenty Six

[reviews]

Willow stared blankly straight ahead. It had been three days. Three days during which they couldn't find Buffy, and they couldn't find Giles. They had searched high and low, had even gotten the cops involved. Some conspiracy theorist they hat up at the police station was saying how they probably ran off together, hinting at romantic involvement between the two of them. Willow wanted nothing more than to find Buffy, and slap that theorist. There was only so much she could take, and having someone make up theories about her girlfriend and her watcher wasnt something that she could take. She sighed as she remembered the smell of Buffy's perfume, and even their first date.

Across town, about three hundred feet under ground, Buffy and Giles sparred. They fought for the amusement of their elders, and there was nothing they could do about it. Or so it seemed to said elders, but they both planned an escape route, using ever available second to perfect the plan. Buffy dropped down low, and let Giles defeat her, knowing that once one of them was defeated, they would call it quits for the night. The two had been fighting for the last three hours straight, and Buffy was only getting more and more toned as her somewhat girly demeanor began to slip away. How long would it be until their plan reached its head? Neither knew, but hopefully the answer would come soon enough.

Buffy sighed as she was hauled off in slayer proof handcuffs and was thrown roughly into a cell, only rolling out of the way just in time as Giles was thrown in and nearly landed on her.

"You okay?" She asked Giles once she was sure that their captors were out of hearing range.

"Yes, just dandy." He replied sarcastically. She had never pictured him as one to crack under pressure, but it seemed almost like that was what was happening, especially since the cell they were in was so tiny. He wasn't able to pace, since the distance could be walked in a mere three steps if you didn't mind your nose hitting the wall in either direction.

"Geez, no need to be snappy." Buffy said as she pushed a bit of her hair out of her eyes. That was another thing that had changed about her while she was being held captive down there, her hair had been cut. It was no longer down to her shoulders in the latest 'in' hair cut. Now it was short and choppy, and in need of a desperate brush.

She missed Willow, and she missed Xander, Amy, and Tara. Hell, she even missed Cordelia. But other than Willow, her Mom was the one she missed the most. And she was determined to get back to her little make shift family, one way or the other. Hopefully with a pulse at that. She leaned back against the wall, and redied herself for the next day as she drifted off in to an uneasy sleep.

In her dreams, Buffy ran into Willow. The two walked hand in hand, like they used to before she had been taken, and they smiled, they laughed, kissed, cried, and loved. Her eyes snapped open as two metal plates hit the ground in front of her and she scoped hers up, shoveling down the gruel they called food. There seemed to be no escape, no matter how hard they worked on their plans to do so.

Willow walked up to Amy and Tara, looking from one to the other. She looked like a pale reflection of the girl that Tara had met, she was no longer lively and vibrant, even her aura had begun to fade some. "Listen guys, I need your help."

"The winner of tonight's battle, shall live, the other, shall die." A voice boomed out over the ampitheatre set up where Buffy and Giles had been fighting for the last three days. Both their eyes widened in surprise and met in a silent agreement to keep the fight going as long as possible.

Amy and Tara went about setting up the locater spell, using a small map of Sunnydale that Tara had buried from when she first arrived in the odd little town. Once the spell was complete, a little dot lit up on the map, marking one of the largest graveyard's in Sunnydale. Restfield.
