Chapter 8

[reviews]

Sorry if it isn't great. I just wanted to try and make up for the long delay of the last chapter. I was told to have more Dylan so here you go :D Enjoy

"I seriously doubt that we are out of the clear." The blond witch nodded in agreement. "So I was wondering if there was a way to... I donno block magic from us all or something? If they can't get to Willow I'm worried they may try and use another method of control. Knowing from experience, these tweeds don't give up." Sighing slightly she tightened her grip on the little one in her arms. She didn't have the courage to let her go just yet.

"Well Buffy, I agree with you, but it will take some time for me to make it. It'll be something you'll have to wear like a necklace or something to protect you. Oh and it vibrates when its blocking magic so we'll know when its working." Pausing for a minute to think over what was needed before continuing. "It shouldn't take more than a day, two tops to make a bracelet for everyone."

"That would be great Tara. The sooner the better." Buffy was slightly lost at what to do. Practically her only father figure had turned against them. The one man she looked up to, saved the world with, had changed. It wasn't like him to act this way and that was one thing bothering her more than anything.

"Buffy," Tara had been trying to bring her back with no success. "Buffy, come back." Watching her shake her head clear and look back at her she said what she needed to. "I know you have a lot on your mind, and I think I can even do all the magic stuff here. In the basement if that's all right."

"Yeah, sorry Tara, that would be great. As soon as Faith gets back can you two go to the magic shop? I don't trust them to just stop. I mean these guy control slayers and even vamps and demons at times. They're gonna come back in force."

Tara knew they would. Everyone could tell right away. Giles came planned and was not one to back down. Even worse, he knew there weaknesses. Right now he was more dangerous than any demon or vampire. There were many Council members and they knew just where to hit without those pesky daylight or appearance problems.

The sound of the door opening and closing was quiet but loud enough for everyone to hear. Walking into the dining room with a kiddy bag over one shoulder and arms full of clothes and other things that looked like toys and books.

Chuckling at the man before them Buffy felt Dylan moving, the vibrations beginning to wake her. "Just put them in the living room, in the corner or something out of the way." Getting up she decided to check on Willow. Walking up the stairs and opening the door she looked in at a sleeping Willow. The redhead seemed to be having little tremors in her sleep.

Moving closer to the bed Buffy moved several stray strands behind the redheads' ear. The hackers face moved with her hand, leaning into the contact. Caressing her cheek lightly before pulling back. A small whimper escaped her lips as the hand no longer touched her skin. Leaning back in, she kissed her forehead before pulling back. The small hum that she received made her heart jump as she left the room.

Walking downstairs she entered the living room to see Xander sitting on the couch. "Xan, would you mind picking up Dawn please. Oh and would you mind maybe picking up some dinner on your way home, have Dawnie pick something." Nodding his head he turned the TV off and left the house again. Looking around for her mother she found the oldest Summers' in the kitchen, making a cup of tea. "Hey mom, Xander just went to pick up Dawn and some dinner. Faith and Tara should be back soon with the magic mojo."

Dylan curled into a ball before stretching out in the slayers arms. Looking up into hazel eyes she smiled. Turning her head she began looking for the one she always woke up to. "Mommy?" Her voice so small and quiet.

"Dylan," calling the girl to look at her she waited, "Mommy is taking a nap upstairs. Do you wanna play with me until she wakes up?" Using a soft voice she asked. The tiny red head had a look of disappointment but nodded her head. "We have some of your toys in the living room." Smiling again Dylan began to wiggle free.

Letting the toddler down she watched her rub her eyes before looking around some more. Waving at Joyce and smiling and receiving the same back before reaching her hand up to Buffy's. Quickly looking at her mother, who nodded for reassurance, before taking the tiny hand and being lead way.

As the two sat down and started playing Tara and Faith came in with bags full of ingredients. "Hey tyke," dropping her bag at the table she watched Dylan look up at her and smile, giving a tiny wave before going back to playing.

"Faith, we should get this stuff in the basement." Tara nudged her girlfriend before moving off, quickly followed by her slayer. Returning to the living room they sat down on the couch before looking around. "Where's Xander?"

"He went to get Dawn and some dinner." Buffy was too interested in watching Dylan play with her toys and a look of extreme concentration, a look that Buffy had seen many of times. Laughing as the daughter of her best friend stuck her tongue out at the side of her mouth, then once finished that smile that was purely Willow.

Looking to see what the blond was laughing at Tara and Faith turned and saw what had Buffy laughing so hard. First the tongue to cheek, to tongue between teeth smile. Laughing along the three sat there watching Dylan play.

"I have brought the yummy goodness of pizza," walking through the door with three extra large pizzas, as well as breadsticks and a case of coke. Faith got up quickly as she noticed his grip was about to slip. Lifting the boxes out of his arms she brought them to the table and set them down. Dawn was close behind with her book back over one shoulder.

Looking between the pizza and Dylan she got up and went over to her mother. "What about Dylan? I mean can she eat this stuff or should it be more like... I donno mac and cheese kind of thing?" She really didn't want Willow to get mad at her for doing the wrong thing.

Chuckling at her daughters' expression she held her shoulders and looked into worried hazel eyes of her oldest. "Pizza will be fine. In fact it should be fun." Chuckling again she turned and retrieved plates and napkins. Setting them on the table she took a slice before backing out of the way.

Buffy, still worried, took a slice for Dylan and a couple more slices for herself as well as a couple bread sticks. Moving to the coffee table she set down the two plates and her coke. "Dylan, come over here please." Putting her toys down she walked up next to the blond.

The pizza was still piping hot and she figured it should cool down a bit before letting her burn her tongue on the hot sauce. "Let's go get a drink for you." Putting her hand out again Dylan took it and let Buffy lead the way. Looking in the fridge she noticed there weren't many juices that a kid out like and figured milk would be best. Dylan nodded her head when the woman pulled it out. Pouring some into a glass the two returned to their plates.

As they ate everyone seemed to laugh as Dylan was making a mess of herself. It was a good thing the pizza had cooled, the little girl seemed to have it all over her face and front of her shirt. Buffy gave her mother a small glare as Joyce continued to laugh at both of them.

After her pizza and milk was gone Dylan was a complete mess. Now thankful Xander brought some clothes she could give the messy girl a bath before bed. Picking through the bag for a night outfit she pulled it out along with a rubber ducky. Making it squeak. Dylan's eyes got big, getting up she began to jump up and down.

Looking at her mother for what was happening, everyone was busting up that Buffy could be so clueless. "Bath time Dylan." Joyce called out. Running up the stairs while trying to remove her clothes made the slayer quick to act, catching up she found Dylan struggling to get her top off.

Everyone downstairs had gone and done what was needed. Faith and Tara went down to the basement, starting on the magic blocking project. Xander volunteered to clean up so Joyce could relax for a bit. Smiling at how grown up the young man seemed to be she thanked him as she went to get ready for bed herself. Dawn headed upstairs to listen to music and work on a paper for a class.

In the bathroom Buffy found it a tiny bit awkward to bath someone else. Dylan had no problem with it, obviously comfortable. The two continued to clean and play until she noticed Dylan was quickly running out of energy. Picking up a towel she unplugged the tub and waited for Dylan.

Dressing her in a two piece pj set. It was a very cute and fuzzy blue outfit. Brushing the tangles before the two headed back downstairs, finding Joyce in the kitchen with a band aid on a finger and warm cookies and cold milk. Dylan on Buffy's hip she walked closer to her mother. Reaching out she held her injured hand. "What happened mom?"

"Well, it's for my magic blocker. Maybe you should take Dylan downstairs real quick so the girls can do the two of you." 'Uh oh' Buffy's mind went from bad to worse. How would Dylan react to being poked with a needle? Well that's probably why there are milk and cookies out.

Walking downstairs she found Faith pouring mixtures into one bowl while Tara was pouring something into another one. "Hey guys." She was not to happy about this and hoped Dylan wouldn't hate anyone for what was about to happen.

"Hey B," looking her in the eye she finished up, "maybe you should go first. So the tyke here won't get to scared." Tara walked up next to Faith. Looking the bowls over and nodding her head.

"We are ready, so that both you and Dylan can get them done at the same time. We thought that would be best, since she seems comfortable with you." Nodding in agreement Buffy walked closer. The basement was not giving Dylan a good feeling. It was dark and creepy looking. "Hold out your hand Buffy." Tara instructed, holding a small pin.

Dylan focused back on Buffy and her friends. Watching as another blond stabbed the woman's finger. Seeing red come out was starting to really freak Dylan out. "Hey," bouncing the girl a bit, "its ok. It only hurts a little bit." Tara took the finger and a leaf ingredient, spreading the blood over it. Faith came in next putting a band aid on, more for the kid than Buffy. Considering the hole was practically healed after a couple seconds. Holding her finger up she kissed it. "All better."

Tara came back with a new needle and leaf while Faith got the band aid. The witch put her hand out, silently asking for Dylan's. Slowly Dylan moved her hand out. Tara gently took it and placed the needle on the tip of her index finger. Both slayers could see her resisting. "I'll do it." Moving Dylan to sit on the end of the table she took both instruments.

Tara nearly cried. She just couldn't do it to her. Faith gently took Tara in her arms. "Hey, it's ok." Trying to comfort her girl as Buffy did to Dylan what the couple had just done to her. Dylan had tiny tears rolling down her eyes and was crying as Buffy poked her. She had tried to do it as fast and smoothly as she could. Spreading the leaf and putting on the bandage. Lifting her hand she kissed the booboo.

"All better." Dylan was still crying quietly. Tara took the leaf and finished up while Buffy picked up Dylan and took her back upstairs. Joyce was sitting at the table with a plate of cookies and glass of milk, waiting for the two girls to arrive. "Mmm, cookies," Dylan whipped a tear away as Buffy sat the redhead on her lap. Pulling a warm one off the plate she handed it to the toddler. "For being such a big girl."

Dylan smiled around her cookie. The two adults talked for a bit before Joyce retired to her room. "Story?" Nodding the two went into the living room. Dylan sat on Buffy's lap as she read the story and was surprised when the girl pointed to each word as she spoke.

Towards the end Dylan was leaning against Buffy's arm, drifting off to sleep. Tara and Faith came walking in with three bracelets. Handing them to the eldest slayer the younger one spoke. "This one is for you, this one is for Dylan, and this one is for Willow." Quickly tying Dylan's around her wrist before doing her own. "Well we are going to go home. Everyone now has a bracelet and will at least be protected from magic." Saying their goodnights the slayer and witch let to their own home.

Picking up Dylan she headed upstairs to her room. Willow was still asleep, as she walked in. Letting Dylan on the bed the girl curled up to her mother. With slayer movements she tied the bracelet on and covered the two girls up. Turning to leave before a tiny voice stopped her. "Stay, please." Closing the door and turning out the light Buffy moved back to the bed. Slipping under the covers as Dylan moved into her arms.
