Chapter 10

[reviews]

You guys I am so sorry for the delay. I've been moving from one state to another and its just starting to calm down. I promise to have another chapter soon!

It had been two weeks and still nothing from the council. Not a word from Willy either. This was making the slayers very uncomfortable. The council had a lot more in their reach than the small Scooby gang. This had the possibility of becoming a war between Watchers and Slayers. Faith and Buffy decided to call up several girls and see if they were willing to help out if something were to happen.

After Faith hung up the phone she returned to the living room. Falling into the chair she took a breather. "Well mark down Reese, Jenna, and Olivia." On the other side of the room Buffy marked the girls' names on the list for assistance if things got ugly. Willow was in the dining room working away on her computer to try and figure out the councils plans.

So far no one had heard a word or seen a council member anywhere. Faith looked up at the clock and quickly got up. "I've gotta go. T is gonna kill me if I'm late again. Later B, later Red." Saying the last bit louder she got a 'bye' in return. Leaving the house it quickly became quiet again.

Buffy checked her list again and counted a total of thirty girls all ready to help out. They had a tree all worked out and everyone was ready in case an attack began. Of course some would take longer to get here than others, but the gang could hold them off until reinforcements came.

Stretching tense muscles Buffy got up to check in on her friend. Willow was glued to that computer. Looking for anything and everything she could, only to come up empty handed. Her nerves were shot and she knew she wasn't there for anyone, let alone daughter.

Buffy decided to leave the hacker alone, opting to check on the girl upstairs. Climbing the stairs she slowly opened the door. Dylan was just sitting there on the bed. Not touching a toy or looking at pictures. She hardly even noticed the new person in the room.

Quietly walking around unnoticed or unseen she crept behind the unsuspecting toddler. Moving her hands on either side of the tiny body she quickly moved in for the strike, attacking the girl with tickles. After a few minutes the two just laid there resting. Dylan curled up into Buffy's arms, relishing in the comfort of her warm embrace. Wrapping her strong arms gently around the child she held her close.

Quickly dozing off the girls lay there. It wasn't long until Willow followed the slayer up the stairs. Finding her friend and daughter asleep she figured she could use a nap as well. Not wanting to disturb the two she walked down to Dawn's room. Since Dawn was spending the weekend with a couple of college buddies there was no worry about feeling like she was invading someone's area. Climbing into Buffy's new bed she pulled the blankets back and slide under it, quickly falling asleep.

It wasn't long until Buffy woke from her little nap. Looking down she saw how cute Dylan looked cuddled up in her arms. Moving carefully she got up out of bed without disturbing the girl. Moving a few strands of red hair, Buffy gave her a small kiss on her forehead. Covering up the toddler she left the room. Using her senses she could tell Willow was in her and Dawn's room. Opening the door she peeked in on her sleeping friend.

Closing the door she turned around to see a sleepy Dylan rubbing her eyes. "Hey there cutie," walking over she picked her up and made her way downstairs. Dylan snuggled back into Buffy's arms, haven woken up from the loss of contact.

The slayer gently rubbed the toddlers back as she entered the kitchen. "Are you hungry?" Getting a nod in response she pulled back a little. "What would you like for dinner?" Dylan put on the cutest expression of pure concentration that had Buffy laughing, having seen the exact look from the girls mother.

"Grill cheese?" Dylan had such a bright smile on her face Buffy would have said yes to pasta with cheerios.

"Sounds yummy," so proud of herself Dylan began to bounce a little in Buffy's arms. "Would you like to be my assistant?" Quickly nodding her head again Buffy chuckled at the excitement in the girl. "Ok you go wash your hands and then you can help." Letting her go, Dylan ran off as fast as her little legs could carry her.

Walking over Buffy quickly washed her hands as well before getting the ingredients out and ready. As she pulled out a pan Dylan came running back in, slightly out of breath she held her hands up to show they were clean. "Good girl," picking up the youngster she sat her on the counter. The two quickly make a small stack of grilled cheese sandwiches.

Placing one on a plate Buffy carefully sliced it twice diagonally, leaving a form of pizza shape bites, adding a few chips and carrots to the plate before setting it at Dylan's seat. Quickly climbing the chair she sat and waited for the older woman to join her. As Buffy Finished cutting her sandwiches Willow showed up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

Laughing to herself she set her plate in the seat next to Dylan's. Nodding to her friend the mother quietly took her seat while Buffy went back into the kitchen. "We made dinner mommy." Dylan was so proud that she helped cook. She loved to help in anyway she could.

The blond came back with her plate and sat down. "Yup, couldn't have done it without my assistant." Smiling at Dylan the small girl smiled big as she took a bite from her sandwich. "How'd you sleep Wills?" Starting into her sandwich after asking.

"Oh, good," quickly taking a bite from her sandwich as well. "What a good job you two did." Dylan was loving the compliments, especially now since her mother had been so busy.

Dinner was quickly finished and all moved into the living room, flipping through the channels until finding a suitable show on the television. It wasn't long until Dylan was out cold with her head resting on her mother's lap. The two women noticed this and the slayer with her skills picked up the girl and took her upstairs into the bedroom, turning on some light music to help her stay asleep.

Going back downstairs Buffy stood there for a second, simply watching Willow. The redhead noticed this and stood up. "You ok Buff?" Turning the tv off before closing the space between them, standing before her friend.

Reaching out she gently pulled Willow to her. Wrapping her arms around the taller girls' waist she held her close. Stunned for a second, the witch soon moved her arms around Buffy's shoulders. "What's wrong Buffy?"

She couldn't say anything as she nuzzled her neck and held her closer. Breathing in her Willowy scent and feeling her touch. Willow tried to understand what was happening. Rubbing her friends back and neck she tried comforting her.

Suddenly the redhead felt wetness on her neck. Shortly after that she felt her friends' body shake with sobs. It only got stronger as they held each other. Willow was totally lost where all this had come from. "I can't lose you. Not again." Her voice was so small, with pain evident in each word.

"Oh Buffy," holding even tighter Willow tried soothing her friends worries. Whispering words with gentle touches. The slayer only cried harder, repeating her words over again. She couldn't stop the tears running down her cheeks either as her friend broke down in her arms. She had never seen Buffy like this and it scared her.

It took awhile but the tears slowly stopped and their bodies gradually ceased their shakes. Buffy didn't want to let Willow go. She wanted to hold in her arms and relax in her gentle touch.

Pulling back slowly she kept her eyes down. "Sorry Wills, I just..." before she could go any further Willow shushed her.

"No Buffy. You have nothing to be sorry about." Tilting the girls face up she spoke. Taking her friends hand in hers she lead the way upstairs. Buffy followed with no resistance. Entering Buffy's old room she closed the door behind her and crawled into bed, tugging Buffy in with her.

Smiling as she slid under the blankets, the slayer wrapped her arms around her friend again. Sighing in content as Willow returned the embrace. The two quickly fell into a deep sleep with the other on their mind.

On the other side of town a group of men where preparing an event. A young man ran into the room, catching his breath for a second before he spoke. "It appears all residents have gone to bed sir. All the lights are out and no sound could be heard."

An older gentleman took a step forward. "Do you know how many or who are inside?" His voice radiated power and respect.

"The Summers family and Willow and Dylan Rosenberg only sir, no one else has been there since this afternoon."

Turning towards his men he nodded his head. "Let's move out." Men quickly moved, gathering material and weapons. Soon the army was on foot towards the Summers' home. Quickly surrounding the place, each group prepared to attack.

Over their earpiece all men heard the command. "Move in," as Giles instructed the men to attack on his family.
