Chapter 3...
***************************************************************************
Willow was standing over the stove cooking pancakes for her and Buffy. She had left the sleeping slayer in bed, she'd looked to peaceful to wake.

The witch was troubled. Negative thoughts ran through her head like wild horses. What if I'm not good enough? What if I'm never ready for Buffy? What if she finds someone else? Is this moving too fast? Is this moving too slow? What's the right amount of time to wait?

Her thoughts were interupted by a pair of strong slayer arms wrapping themselves around her waist. Willow tensed. Slayer plus stove usually meant burns.

"Shhh, it's OK," Buffy whispered in her ear, "it's only me." She said before kissing the witch's shoulder as her thumbs grazed over Willow's hip bones.

Willow relaxed back into the embrace a little and sighed in relief. "Morning,"

"Mmmm, morning," the slayer mumbled as she burried her face in the nook of Willow's neck, taking in the unique Willowy smell. "I was expecting some Willow-shaped snuggles this morning but you weren't in my bed when I woke up," Buffy said, milking it.

Willow let out a quiet giggle, "I'm sorry."

"Don't worry about it, baby," she kissed Willow on the cheek then shared a smile with her before she let go of the tiny witch and walked over to the kettle flipping it on. "Smells good," she said referring to the pancakes.

Willow just smiled back.

Buffy frowned a little. She went back over to Willow and turned her away from the stove gently. She took both hands in her own and rubbed her thumbs over the thin hands. "Is everything OK? You're awfully quiet this morning," she asked with concern.

"Yeah, just... ya know... busy head," Willow smiled sheepishly at Buffy.

"About last night?" Buffy asked, nervously.

Willow nodded her reply.

"Oh," Buffy looked down for a second before looking back into her eyes, "any regrets?"

"Just one," Willow said quietly before explaining to the confused blonde, "being with Kennedy when I could have been with you instead. Then we wouldn't have any of this drama and I wouldn't be all... stupidly scared when it comes down to the-the physical stuff."

"Aww, sweetie, c'mere," Buffy held Willow as she walked into the slayer's embrace, her head resting on Buffy's shoulder as she held back unshed tears. "I don't care about that stuff," Willow gave her a disbelieving look which made Buffy smile. "Not saying that it wouldn't be nice," she said winking at her, "but as long as we're together that stuff doesn't matter yet. Right now, I'm happy with just holding you."

"Yeah, but... what if I can never... you know... 'cause of what's happened?"

"It's gonna take time, Wills," the slayer said, tucking a couple of strands of hair behind Willow's ear, "and right now it might feel like you could never be with anyone like that again, but, it will get better, I promise." She kissed the witch's forehead lightly, "and I'll stick by you the whole way, no matter how long it takes."

Willow kissed Buffy lightly on the lips before adding, "thankyou."

"Uhhh Will?"

"Mmmm?" She asked, quite content in the slayer's arms.

"Your pancake's burning."

"Oh," Willow's eyes widened before turning back to the stove, and removing the burnt pancake, putting it in the bin, then rinsing out the frying pan best as she could.

"Wills?"

"Yeah, sweetie?"

"I was thinking... the guys are coming around later today... maybe we should tell them... about us, I mean... u-unless you don't want to... 'cause that's fine, too, but, we are around them a lot of the time... a-and the more time we spend with them the less time we get to be couple-y if they don't know about us, b-but, if you want to wait then I can do that, just a thought really..."

"Buff, take a deep breath," Willow said, grabbing her girlfriend by the shoulders.

"OK," she smiled sheepishly, "sorry."

Willow smiled back at her and moved her hands from her shoulders to around her neck and Buffy's arms snaked around her waist.

"I think it's a good idea to tell them," Buffys eye brows shot to her hair line which produced a giggle from Willow, "don't look so suprised!"

"Sorry, it's just... wow, really?"

"Yeah, why not? It won't do any harm anyone knowing. Besides, Dawn already knows and she was excited about it."

"True," she squeezed Willow's waist a little, "are you sure about this?"

"Positive," Willow said, resolve face on show, "in fact, we could tell them over dinner."

"Hmmm, I like it, a casual 'guess who's gay and dating Willow' dinner party."

The girls shared a giggle and a kiss.

"I'll go phone them, make sure they're all still free."

"'K, Buff, and I'll..." she looked back into the sink and the burnt on food on the frying pan, "...never cook breakfast ever again."

Buffy chuckled before kissing Willow's cheek and heading to the phone.

Faith was working hard on the punch bag in the basement as she had been doing for the last couple of hours.

She couldn't stop thinking about Willow. The more time she spent with the brunette, the more she wanted to be near her, to just be talking or laughing with her.

"Dammit, Red, get out of my head!"

She felt her cell vibrate in her pocket and looked at the caller ID:

'B/Red Home'

She smacked the punch bag one more time, disconnecting it from the ceiling and sending it flying into the wall.

She picked up the cell.

"Hello?" Faith's facial features tightened a little as she heard Buffy's chirpy voice on the other end of the phone. She was hoping for Willow. "Hey, B, what's up?" she continued to listen, "uh huh... yep, still free... this afternoon?... Sure, what time?... News, what news?... Is Red OK?... Uh huh... right, OK, see you later."

Faith drawled out a sigh.

Dinner was going to be *really* awkward.
