Chapter 4...
***************************************************************************
Each scoobie arrived seperately. First Giles, with a bottle of wine, then Xander and then a 'fashionably' late Faith.

General conversation was made over the dinner table. Demon this, research that from Giles and Xander talking about the new girl he was dating.

Faith just sat there, contributing a little to the conversations every now and again. Her curiosity was getting the better of her. She wanted to know the news. She'd already guessed that the two might be together, she just wanted her suspicions confirmed.

"So, B, Red, what's this news?"

They both looked to Faith and then to each other. Buffy grabbed Willow's hand under the table and interlaced their fingers.

"Umm... well me and Buff are... we're..."

"Together," Buffy finished for her squeezing her hand gently, "as a couple."

It was painfully quiet for a moment.

"Oh my God!" Said Xander, a look of disbelief on his face, "this takes my fantasies to a whole new level!"

Both girls eyes widened.

"Fantasies?" They asked at the same time.

"You both have my blessing," was all Xander said in return, giving them a goofy smile.

"Yes, it's about bloody time!" Giles added. Both girls turned their head to look at him.

"That's what Dawn said," said Buffy, happy that 2 out of the 3 scoobies so far had accepted her and Willow, "only without the 'bloody'. She's not that British yet."

Willow had noticed the look on Faith's face since from the couple had confessed out from the corner of her eye. Her expression was neutral, but Willow was sure she saw some confusion or hurt there, too.

"Faith?" Willow asked, nervous about rejection from the once rogue slayer. After the First battle, her and Faith had put aside their differences and became really close. She was Willow's best friend, well, aside from Buffy and Xander of course.

"Hey, you two go well together, I think it's great," Faith lied, casually leaning back into her chair, "just kinda saw it coming."

She knew it. SHE KNEW IT! She knew they were a couple.

She knew know that she'd never have a chance with Willow. Her and Buffy being together would disrupt her whole outlook on relationships.

Want. Take. Have.

She had a feeling things would have been different with Willow, but, now she'd never know, which disheartened her considerably.

"Right, now I've heard the news, I'm gonna take off," she said, looking over at the clock that read '10:00', "gonna get an early patrol in."

"We were gonna watch a movie... if you wanted to stay," Willow said, still nervous that the slayer wasn't showing her true feelings about the new couple.

"Nah, I'll pass Red, next time, though," they shared a smile before Faith said 'night' to the rest of the gang and headed out the door.

Once the front door was shut behind her she leaned her head back on it and closed her eyes tight as her jaw clenched. A couple of seconds later, she felt the door open and, had it not been for slayer speed, she'd have fallen straight on her ass. She turned around to find Willow standing in the doorway.

"Are you OK?" She asked, still nervous.

"Yeah, sure, why wouldn't I be?" Faith asked, playing dumb.

"Well... you just... left," Willow said, a little confused at why exactly she was doing this. She shook her head before asking, "are you sure you're going to be OK patrolling alone?" Faith listened to this part. Her and Willow patrolling. Alone. This could get pretty interesting... "'Cause I'm pretty sure Buffy wouldn't mind a slay or two." Faith's face dropped. "What?" Willow asked with a cute little confused face which Faith couldn't help but smile at.

"Nothing, Red," she began answering Willow's questions, "sorry I left so abruptly, it's just... I'm really itching for a slay. I'll be fine on my own... really! Let B stay here and watch the movie. I'll see you both tomorrow," she finished, with a smile and a hug for the witch.

"Ok, night," Willow smiled as she went back into the house.

When the door closed, Faith let out a long sigh as she made her way towards the grave yard.

She couldn't stop thinking about Willow.

"For fuck's sake, Faith, get over it," the slayer told herself, "she's with B, she's found her soul mate, she ain't gonna give that up for you."

She let a couple of tears roll down her cheek before vicously wiping them away. Why the hell was she taking this so hard?

Back at the house, the rest of the scoobies were watching the remake of 'The Amityville Horror'. Buffy and Willow were sat cuddled on the one sofa, whilst Giles and Xander sat on the other, Xander complaining about how scary the movie actually was.

"Xand, we lived on a hellmouth for most of our lives and you're scared of a movie?" Willow asked through a smirk.

"It's a scary, scary movie," he said quietly, "hey, can I come snuggle with you guys? Purely for the comfort factor, ya know..."

The girls just laughed at him and turned back to the movie. As they did they saw the part where someone walks past an empty chair but then continues walking to reveal the pale little ghost girl.

Willow nearly jumped out of her skin and Buffy held her tight and smiled at her.

"What was that about living on a hellmouth, baby?"

"I-it's a scary, scary movie!" She said mirroring Xander's words from earlier.

Buffy just giggled and kissed Willow's forehead. Willow smiled at the contact and snuggled further into Buffy.

Xander and Giles looked at each other sharing a smile at the couple's cuteness factor, before turning back to the movie.

"Ahhh," the little girl ghost made Xander jump again.
